Ian holds a Bachelors Degree in English Literature & Theatre Studies from University of Toronto (Victoria University) an is the owner of Divergent Media.
Ian has worked in music and home entertainment product development, marketing, and distribution in the U.S., Canada and the UK, where he currently lives, for over 30 years.
In that time he's has aided and abetted an eclectic array of artists including Alison Krauss, Talking Heads, Madeleine Peyroux and Slade, and has worked for a diverse range of labels and companies including Rykodisc (US), Matador Records (UK), Rough Trade Marketing (UK), Universal Music Canada, Pioneer LDC (Europe), Milan Records (France), the British Film Institute, Rounder Records Group (Canada) and BMG (UK).
He has guest lectured and sat on panels and advisory boards in North America and Europe at educational institutions and conferences including Toronto's North By Northeast (NXNE), the UK's Department of Education initiative 'Film Club', Boston's Berklee School of Music and the MEDIA film funding programme's Espace Video Europe.
Ian has also spouted off about music and film for a variety of print, broadcast and online outlets including heyuguys.co.uk, Little White Lies, BBC Radio and Shindig!
Ian assists us on all aspects of release management and promotional strategy, digital and traditional marketing, content/packaging development (filmed, audio), written content creation and management, creative direction, copy-writing (biographies, sleeve, press, sales materials) and editing. His clients include CCS Rights Management, JLE Entertainment (Toronto), Mystic Bowie's Talking Dreads, (US), and BMG UK.
Ian is from Canada and has been around the block. Several times. With a wealth of experience, he is part of our special projects consulting team.
